Margaret Mackay

Margaret Mackay

It is with sadness that I pass on the news to you that Margaret Mackay died peacefully yesterday afternoon surrounded by her family. Margaret was a life member of Te Puke Club. Together with the then president of the Te Puke Contract Bridge Club Margaret was a prime mover in the purchase of the clubrooms. She was one of the tireless workers for the fundraising required. Secretary for many years and later as President, she encouraged learners and was totally committed to all aspects of club requirements. A keen competitor and a great ambassador for the Te Puke club she was sorely missed when she moved to live in Tauranga and later to Cambridge. Margaret was a vital and enormously influential member of the Cambridge club, and while she has not been able to play and be involved of late, her legacy to the Cambridge club will live on and she will be SO missed. Our deepest sympathy to her family. Margaret’s funeral will be on Saturday at 11am in the quiet room at Resthaven, Cambridge.
