Come along for a wonderful day of Bridge and companionship for a good cause.

Friday afternoon: Played over five (5) days, each session with a DIFFERENT partner. One round may be missed. The winner will be decided based on the four (4) best scores, if five (5) sessions are played. Scores are averaged. Two Open players may not play together.

Tuesday nights: Played over five (5) nights, each session with a DIFFERENT partner. One round may be missed. The winner will be decided based on the four (4) best scores, if five (5) sessions are played. Scores are averaged.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO TUESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMME:

11 July             Seeka Ltd Pairs – Session 3

18 July             Seeka Ltd Pairs – Session 4

A very good field of 16 pairs turned out for this, the second round of the Bay Of Plenty Pairs for 2023.  It is great to see players of all grades attending and enjoying the bridge.

The two hands I am highlighting today have the theme of Discipline and Agreement.

Christine and Jenna Gibbons are representing New Zealand at the Asia Pacific Bridge Championships. Play starts 9 June, finishing 17 June.  Most days there are 4 matches, each 2 hours long. Play starts at 9.00 in the morning (this is not fun for some people who are barely awake, let alone intelligent at this time of the day) and finishes at 7.30pm, then they have to go and find dinner.

The Welcome Bay Singles is played for the Hookey Trophy. This competition is played over five (5) nights, each session with a different partner. One round may be missed. The winner will be decided based on the four (4) best scores, if five (5) sessions are played.

Happy Easter

The 2023 Lessons got off to a roaring start with 24 beginners attending the first night. The Apple cake and scones went down a treat for supper and it was  such a lovely atmosphere.  A couple of beginners were unable to make the first week but will be able to catch up next week.
